Shots from the Rolex 2000 Regatta
The following photographs were taken at the Rolex Regatta and appeared on the nyyc.org website.
Bill and Steve Purdy of Megansett, MA took their new boat (40 WHACKS) out to the Rolex for their first major regatta. In this photo on Friday they seem to have fallen behind a NY 40. Notice the dodger. In the first day they were DFL, but by the end of the week they lost the dodger and finished the last race eight places higher in the standings. Photo by Dan Nerney. Starting and mark roundings were a challenge. Here we see pin action on Friday. That's newcomer Vic Bell on VALE (with Bob Taylor aboard) getting a good start on #247. Right at the pin appears to be Billy Baldwin on CYAN. Photo by Michael Levitt. Here's downwind action on Friday. Billy B. is already around. That's Nelson Weiderman (KIMA) followed by Dimitri Spentzos (ODYSSEY) on starboard and Geoff Moore (ILIAD) coming on port. Photo by Michael Levitt. Andy Skibo (PLUM CRAZY) showed awsome downwind speed as did Tom Coates (MASQUERADE) on Saturday. Photo by Dan Nerney.
