Shots by professional photographer Sue Bodycomb (yachtshots.com) at Key West Race Week 2002. These ten images are used with her permission. Her website has hundreds more sorted by boat name.

The following photographs were taken at Key West, January 22-24, 2002.
That's Barry Brown of Corpus Christi, TX at the helm of BLUE MAX, one of the two boats painted flag blue. The upside of a dark color hull is that you are more likely to show up on the cover of Sailing World. The downside is that if you're over early, they're going to call you back!
Those white spinnakers sure are faster than the colored ones. Here we have Jim Sorensen in WET LEOPARD leading David Wagner. Looks like Jim has his main working just a tad better than David at this point.
Six J/105's head downwind. Who can name them all by their spinnaker colors? The one in the background is one of three that have all white spinnakers. Notice the difference in twist of the mainsail of the two boats with the red kites! Are they PLANET B, MESSY JESSY, SCARAMOUCHE, PAPERMOON, and CYAN?

Don Priestly in WET PAINT. Why isn't that boat heeled more to weather, Don?
Fleet captain (fleet #4) Robert Baker steers as his crew douses the spinnaker. PLANET B was one of two Canadian boats (FORRO the other) coming south. Note the man overboard buoy on the backstay, the lack of netting to hold the spinnaker aboard and the lack of knee protection on the bowman.
The California coalition aboard ZUNI BEAR had to have the award for the most creative spinnaker. Here they lead a pack to the leeward gate while a dark hull appears to be headed back upwind in the middle of the pack.
That's Ken Colburn on WITCH, ahead of Dick Starita on HAZE III. It looks like WITCH is bearing off in the puff while HAZE III is heading up to take her wind.

What a great sequence this is with Kent Harman's SCARAMOUCHE and PLANET B rounding the leeward gate. In the first shot SCARAMOUCHE (yellow spinnaker) is starting her turnand PLANET B (red spinnaker) is diving behind for the outside
Both boats are determined to hold their spinnakers to the very end of the leg. SCARAMOUCHE is belatedly trying to douse after the wind has taken the kite to the leeward side.
She continues her turn with the spinnaker still only half-way down. It's going to be a bear getting the chute back down on the port side at this point. Please note the color of the water here.
