Shots from the 2000 Key West Race Week Regatta (Second Batch)

The following photographs were taken from photo boat by Jeff Johnstone. Commentary by Nelson Weiderman. Enjoy!
Geoffrey Perieni chartered PHANTOM, another New Jersey boat from Fleet #10 and sailed to a second place regatta finish. His crew from left to right included ... Geoffrey Perieni, and ... Race 4: This is the starboard tack parade coming into the first weather mark. This looks like it might be PHANTOM at the head of this pack.
The finish of Race #4. It's Damian Emery and ECLIPSE from Fleet #6 taking advantage of the light stuff and getting the gun. Not far behind is Rick Wright in WONDER WAGON. Race #5 start. It's still light air for Wednesday's second race. WONDER WAGON got a pin end start and there was no turning back as she went wire-to-wire for the win.
ECLIPSE with their high clewed Doyle spinnaker goes down in Race #5. Here's WW taking the gun in Race #5.
And shortly after it's Jim Doane's FLAME, a deep draft Florida boat taking second. Race #5: IMPOSTER rounds ahead of PLUM CRAZY. This looks too light to be Race #6. Probably an out-of-sequence shot belonging to Race #5.
Race #7 start: The wind piped up again on Thursday with heavy chop. Here we see one boat reaching down the line, one luffing on the line and two in the foreground with good speed heading for the line. Race #7: That looks like Fleet #6's Jim Sorensen's WET LEOPARD in the foreground with the 3DL North jib with SOUTHERN CRESCENT in the middle and FLAME on the left.
Race #7: Three unidentifiable J/105's march upwind in the heavy seas in the second race on Thursday. We frequently saw 20 knots and above. It's Tom Coates' MASQUERADE again heading up the course.
Race #7: MASQUERADE is past the weather mark heading for the offset as the bowman gets the spinnaker ready for the hoist. Race #7: SUNQUEST rounds the offset and prepares to hoist their spinnaker.
