I've seeded my 2009 list of potential entries with the entrants from 2008 (34 of you). If you know that you will not be attending in 2009 or if you know of others who may be attending again or for the first time, please let me know. The first (unofficial) entry list is here: http://www.j105.org/KWRW2009/entries.php The Premiere-Racing event home page is here: The J/105 home page is here: http://j105.org/racing/kwrw.php As always, if you wish to be excluded from this mailing list, please let me know. There will be less than a dozen e-mails over the next six months. Cheers, Nelson |

| 21.Oct.2008 | To: KWRW2009: From: Nelson Weiderman Subject: Key West Race Week -- Update #3 Key Westers, Karen Yingling again reports that J/Boats has slips (not rafting) available at the Conch Republic Seafood. Please contact Karen at karen@jconcierge.com for reservations. J/Boats will once again be hosting hospitality each evening featuring video footage of the day's racing. Fun awards for the J/105 Class are again tentatively scheduled for Thursday evening. | 11.Nov.2008 | To: KWRW2009: From: Nelson Weiderman Subject: Key West Race Week -- Update #4 Key Westers, As you have probably figured out by now, this will be a down year for KWRW and the J/105 Class will be no exception. You also probably know that Chris Howell has taken over for me and will be attending KWRW for the first time this year. He and his wife Julie will be doing the inspections on Saturday and Sunday as usual. Since most of the boats on the list have attended in the past (and most have won previous silver), we will not be doing the fun awards for 2009. Back in 2010 I would hope. Since the last update, I've had notice about housing becoming available: 4 BR, 4 BA – Hein House – a block away from the Marina. 3 BR, 2 BA Main Home 2 BR, 2 BA Cottage < So far I have these boats are committed: CARESS, DISTANT PASSION, ECLIPSE, FLAME, GUMPTION3, MASQUERADE, MAX POWER, RUM AT SIX, SAVASANA, TENACIOUS (Fleet #3) These boats are likely: SOLARIS, STINGER These boats are possible, but I will put them in the unlikely category if I don't hear from them soon: ACHIEVER V, ANOTHER HAZARD, BAT IV, EAGLES WINGS, FORERUNNER, JA2, JADED, PLANET CLAIRE, TENACIOUS, WASABI. Everything you need to know at: http://j105.org/racing/kwrw.php Cheers, Nelson |

| 18.Dec.2008 | To: KWRW2009: From: Nelson Weiderman Subject: Key West Race Week 2009 -- Update #6 Key Westers, The Premiere-Racing entry deadline has passed and it is looking like we will have a dozen boats on the starting line at KWRW 2009. Most of the boats that said that they would be skipping this year because of the rotten economy said they would be back again in 2010. The boats are: BIG BOOTY, BLACKHAWK (charter?), CARESS, DISTANT PASSION, ECLIPSE, MASQUERADE, MAX POWER, ROCK & ROLL (ORANGUTAN charter), RUM AT SIX, SAVASANA, STINGER, TENACIOUS (Fleet #3). The forms are now available to register for an inspection time slot, to submit your crew lists, and to submit the sails you will be using. You may fill in these forms by finding the links at: http://j105.org/racing/kwrw.php Same drill as in previous years, but single threading the inspections (instead of two boats per time slot there will be only one). We have a request from Herb McCormick (outbackri@aol.com) to get a crew position on one of our boats. Herb is a journalist who is an excellent sailor and would give us some excellent publicity presuming he has a great time (how could he not?). He's Group 1 (an amateur) and weighs in at about 205. Please contact him directly. Chris and Julie Howell will be at Key West to do the inspections and greeting each of you individually. Please give them a rousing welcome. As always, let me know if I can be of assistance. Everything still at the link given above. Cheers, Nelson |
