2007 Southern Circuit Scoring

Qualification: All boats who compete in two or more of the three regattas will qualify, provided that they have no more than two DNCs if they compete in two regattas, three DNCs if they compete in three regattas.

  Scoring:
  • One point is awarded for starting.
  • One point is awarded for finishing.
  • Zero points are scored for any kind of disqualification.
  • One point is scored for each yacht beaten.  DSQ, DNF, OCS, PMS, DNS boats are included as yachts beaten.
  • Total score for the Circuit is calculated by adding all the points for all the races and then dividing by the sum of maximum scores for all the races competed in for the Circuit.

Example:

SLOWBOAT enters St. Pete NOOD and Charleston Race Week (and qualifies)

In SPN she scores 1,2,9,10,5,5 with 10 boats competing in all six races. In CRW she scores DNS,1,2,DSQ,2,DNF with 12 boats, but with three boats getting DNC (not competing) in the last two races.

SLOWBOAT's points are 11+10+3+2+7+7 for SPN and 0+13+12+0+10+1 for CRW, totalling 76. If she finished first in every race she would have achieved 11+11+11+11+11+11 for SPN and 13+13+13+13+10+10 for CRW totalling 138. Her Circuit score will be (40+36)/(66+72) or .551.
